Presentation of the 2024 Dharma Gate Fehér Judit Special Award

The 2024 Dharma Gate Fehér Judit Special Awards have been presented.

The award, named after our colleague and friend who passed away in 2019, is given each year to the authors of the best theses. The awards were presented by Gábor Karsai, rector of the Tan Kapuja Buddhist College, and Attila Márton Farkas, teacher at the college.

Based on the decision of the college’s Academic Council, the Tan Kapuja Fehér Judit Special Award for 2023/2024 are:

1st prize (200,000 HUF):

Zoltán Pálfi: Additions to the History of the Samye Debate (BA evening program, Buddhist meditation and Tibetan language specialization, supervisor: Dr. Rita Kuzder, opponent: Dr. Zsuzsa Majer)

 

Second prize (100,000 HUF):

Dr. Sándor Tóth: Right? Wrong? Environmental ethics? (BA evening program, religious philosophy specialization, supervisor: Dr. Dénes Schreiner, opponent: Gábor Karsai)

 

Third prize (shared, 50,000 HUF each):

Elvira Gömböcz: The life of the sixth patriarch as a symbol. What is your original face? (BA daytime program, religious philosophy specialization, supervisor: Lajos Komár, opponent: Dr. László Kenéz)

Kutiné Hanzi Krisztina: Excerpts from the Lalitavistara-sūtra. The weeks after enlightenment (BA evening program, Pali and Tibetan language specialization, supervisor: Dr. Tibor Körtvélyesi and Dr. Zsuzsa Majer, opponent: Dr. Gergely Hidas)

Pisont Patrick: What is philosophy, after all? An essay on understanding (BA daytime program, specialization in philosophy of religion, supervisor: Dr. György Balikó, opponent: Dr. Dénes Schreiner)

Szabó Kornél: The Van Gate? – The neural background of forms of meditation, the phenomenon of neural pull, and the use of technology in supporting deep concentration (BA full-time program, Buddhist meditation specialization, supervisor: Dr. László Kenéz, opponent: Dr. Balázs Kékesi)

Dr. Judit Fehér, retired professor at the Tan Kapuja Buddhist College, certified orientalist (Tibetan), lecturer in English and Indology, candidate of linguistics, passed away on February 12, 2019. Following her death, the Senate of the Tan Kapuja Buddhist College renamed the Tan Kapuja Special Award in memory of Judit Fehér to the Tan Kapuja Judit Fehér Special Award.
