1. The First Steps of Starting the Semester

Dear Incoming Student,

Student status is established upon enrollment, based on the decision regarding admission or transfer.

Time of enrollment: only at the beginning of the first semester or upon transfer.

Enrollment is initiated by completing and signing the enrollment form. In addition to other annexes required by law, the following documents must also be attached to or included with the enrollment form, depending on the type of financial support for the program:

•

For students admitted to a state-funded program: a declaration as per point 10 of Annex 9 of the Implementation Decree of the Higher Education Act (Nftvhr.), stating that the applicant has read and accepts the conditions of the state-funded training as defined by the Higher Education Act (Nftv.);

•

For self-financed students or those reclassified as such: a student training contract.

In subsequent semesters, students indicate via the Neptun system whether they intend to continue their studies for the given semester, as part of the registration process.

Enrollment for first-year students includes the following steps:

•

Online enrollment,

•

Online payment of fees (registration fee, tuition fee),

•

In-person administration.

Further detailed information: https://www.tkbf.hu/hallgatoknak/tanulmanyok/segedletek/elsos-beiratkozas/

At the beginning of each academic term, the student must declare whether they intend to:

•

continue their studies (active status), or

•

take a break (passive status).

Your semester status is successfully set to active if the status for the current semester shows as “In Progress” or “Approved” on the Neptun interface under Administration / Enrollment / Registration.

If the status is “New”, your registration was not successful!

Registration can be completed until the end of the registration period. After that, late registration is possible for an additional two weeks, but only with the payment of a late registration fee.

If not done earlier, students are also required to report any changes to their personal data during the registration period.

If the change involves data that must be verified with official documents, the student must report it in person to the Academic Office and present the original document at the same time.

Transfers to the College’s collective account can be initiated at any time; however, the amount will be credited to the student’s balance in the Neptun system only once per week, provided that the student’s Neptun code (NK-neptunkód) has been correctly entered in the transfer’s reference field.

IMPORTANT: A bank transfer to the College’s collective account does not automatically settle the debt!
To fulfill a financial obligation (e.g. tuition fees, other charges), the designated amount must be paid from the student balance in Neptun by the due date.

It is advisable to transfer the semester’s registration fee (and the tuition fee, if applicable) to the collective account in the week before registration week, or at the very beginning of registration week at the latest.

2.

Course Registration and Completion

During the course registration period, students are entitled to enroll via the Neptun system in any course or exam course announced by any academic department of the College. The course registration period lasts for the first two weeks of the study period (which begins with registration week!).

A course can be dropped no later than the end of the fourth week of the study period.

The recommended number of credits per semester is 30.

To reach this credit count, in addition to the mandatory courses offered, students typically need to register for additional courses (i.e. elective courses or special topics seminars.

You must ALWAYS check your enrolled courses here:
Neptun / Courses / Enrolled Courses
After the (late) course registration period ends, you will no longer be able to register for courses for that semester!

The number of credits you have registered for or completed can be viewed at:
Neptun / Studies / Academic Averages

Further detailed information:
https://www.tkbf.hu/hallgatoknak/tanulmanyok/segedletek/targyfelvetel/

The course schedule available on the website and the model curriculum in Neptun show which courses are announced for you in the given semester. It is strongly recommended to complete these courses during the semester they are normally scheduled in the model curriculum.

Although you may deviate from the model curriculum, in such cases we cannot guarantee the availability of required courses with the correct course code and time slot later on (there is a risk of schedule conflicts with compulsory courses in future semesters, or even course discontinuation over time!).

Course Registration Based on the Model Curriculum

Go to Neptun / Studies / Model Curriculum:

•

Select your model curriculum (under “…”),

•

After clicking List, you can see which courses are still missing (you can also sort them by semester),

•

Compare this with the timetable and register for all courses needed for the given semester,

•

Then add further courses to reach a total of 30–32 completed credits for the semester.

Course Registration Outside the Model Curriculum

If you intend to complete a course in a later semester than recommended in your model curriculum, and it is not offered in its usual semester or not under the required course title or code, please do the following:

•

During the course registration period, submit a request as soon as possible via

Neptun / Administration / Requests, under the Fillable Requests tab, using the

“General academic request” template.

•

Include all relevant course details in one request if multiple courses are involved.

•

Simultaneously, contact the instructor who previously taught the course,

ask for their recommendation and inquire about possible alternatives

(e.g. course offered under a different name/code, exam course, etc.).

•

Include this information in the request, or—if you’ve already submitted the request in Neptun—

email the details to to@tkbf.hu, referencing your previously submitted request.

Please indicate in your email that it is a supplement to an existing request.

The exam period lasts for seven weeks following each study period.

The first week of the exam period is a make-up week, during which any missed classes from the study period may be rescheduled and held.

Practical grades must be obtained by the last day of the first week of the exam period.

No exam dates need to be scheduled in Neptun for these subjects.

Courses that conclude with a colloquium are assessed via oral and/or written exams, for which instructors will announce exam dates in the Neptun system.

At least two exam dates must be offered for each course, and if needed, a third (retake) date should also be provided.

Students must register in Neptun for one of the announced exam dates at least 48 hours before the exam.

Vizsgaidőszak

During the exam period, students are entitled to select a specialization in Neptun from those announced by the College.

The specialization selection period takes place during the last three weeks of the exam period.

5. Finances

According to Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education (Nftv.), students may pursue higher education studies (in higher education vocational training, BA, or MA programs) in two types of financial schemes:
•
State-funded (full or partial)
•
Self-financed
Hungarian citizens, as well as non-Hungarian citizens defined under the Nftv., may be admitted to state-funded programs.
In higher education, students are generally entitled to a total of 12 state-funded semesters.
Out of these, at TKBF:
•
In a BA program, students may use 6+2 semesters of state funding, provided they still have unused, eligible semesters from their 12-semester quota.
•
In an MA program, students may use 4+2 semesters.
Once a student exhausts their available state-funded semesters—or if they lose eligibility—they are moved to a self-financed status.
Under the Nftv., applicants are admitted to either a state-funded or self-financed program. However, this financial status is not fixed or irreversible throughout one’s studies.
If a state-funded student fails to meet certain academic criteria, the institution is required to reassign them to self-financed status at the end of the academic year. Their place may then be filled by the highest-performing self-financed students.
