Application for the Final Examination
Obtaining the Absolutorium
Oral Final Examination and Presentation
It is advisable to approach the above process by starting from the planned date of the presentation and setting the deadlines for submitting the necessary documents according to the relevant announcement listed in the Deadlines section below. The following summary also serves as a guide in this regard.

NEPTUN: Administration / Final Examination Interface

After the successful upload of the thesis, application for the final examination must be completed in Neptun. On the Neptun application form for the final examination, after entering the thesis data, it is also possible to update language exam and contact information. After entering the data, click the button labeled “Next” at the bottom to view a summary of the entered information. After checking the data, click the “Submit Application” button to apply for the given final examination period.

The thesis defense and the oral final examination cannot take place without obtaining the absolutorium!

The condition for obtaining the absolutorium is the successful completion of all core curriculum, compulsory elective, and free elective subjects listed in the model curriculum of the given program in Neptun, with the required credit value. Thus, in bachelor’s programs at least 180 credits, and in master’s programs 120 credits, must be earned.

Final Examination Period

The presentation and defense of the submitted thesis, as well as the oral subject examination forming part of the final examination, take place during the final examination period. The final examination period falls within the exam period and is designated in the announcement regarding the schedule of the given semester. Final examinations are usually held in the penultimate weeks of the semesters (typically around mid-January and mid-June).

Process of the Final Examination

According to point 8 of the valid Learning Outcome Requirements adopted on June 27, 2019, besides obtaining the absolutorium, the requirements for earning the bachelor’s degree include passing a comprehensive oral examination based on the curriculum topics (hereafter: Buddhist oral exam) before an examination board, completing a thesis in accordance with the current higher education regulations, and defending it before the examination board.

To ensure these requirements can be fulfilled within one final examination period, the College organizes the final examination as follows:

The final examination event is divided into three parts, organized on two separate occasions.

First Occasion:

•

Buddhist oral exam, drawing two topics (20 minutes)

During the Buddhist oral exam, one topic must be drawn from each of the two announced topic groups. The exam aims primarily to assess general knowledge related to Buddhism and the ability to understand connections. During the discussion of the topics, additional related questions may arise.

Second Occasion:

•

Thesis defense (20–40 minutes)

•

Discussion of arising questions (5 minutes)

During the thesis defense, the Candidate responds to the opponent’s written evaluation received a few weeks prior to the defense, as well as to the comments from the other members of the examination board. The opponent’s evaluation—which may be amended during the final exam—counts for ¼ of the final “thesis defense” grade, while the remaining ¾ is determined by the other three examination board members.

In the evaluation of the final examination, the thesis defense accounts for ⅔ and the Buddhist oral exam accounts for ⅓ of the final grade.
