Specializations

In the Buddhist Teacher BA program, students have the opportunity to choose a specialization of up to 30 credits. The specialization allows for a more in-depth study of a specific field; however, it does not result in an independent qualification. In addition to acquiring the mandatory core theological curriculum of the program, students gain proficiency in further theological studies or auxiliary sciences that are of outstanding importance for the study of Buddhist theology.

Core Buddhist Curriculum

Covers the life and teachings of the historical Buddha, the most important and defining schools of Buddhism, and their cultural and art-historical aspects.

Buddhist Meditation Specialization

Students will have the opportunity to practice the different meditation traditions (Theravāda, Zen, Tibetan) in more depth, both in class and during retreats.

Religion and philosophy sometimes offer different answers to the great questions of life, but they often provide very similar responses. Both have the power to bring peace in the face of life's hardships.

Pali Language Specialization

The Pali language specialization, just like early Buddhism, is pastel-colored. It doesn’t have any vivid colors. It is modest and restrained, elegant, and puritanical.

During the Tibetan language specialization, students will embark on a grand journey through time—from the 7th century to the present—where the language instructor serves as their guide.
