New correspondence course at Dharma Gate Buddhist College

In the fall of 2022, the Tan Kapuja Buddhist College’s traditional Buddhist teacher training program, which has been running for three decades, will be launched in a new, correspondence course. The Mánfai Retreat Center and Creative House, established and operated by the Tan Kapuja Buddhist Church (https://meka.hu).

The retreat center, located in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Mecsek Mountains, is situated in the village of Mánfa in Baranya County, 15 km from Pécs and 7 km from Komló. With the establishment of the Mánfa Educational Institute operating in the retreat center, the Tan Kapuja Buddhist College aims to provide its students with a suitable place where they can engage in Buddhist studies and spiritual activities requiring peace and contemplation without distraction.

What is new about the correspondence course?
The College’s correspondence department in Mánfa will have the following special features:
– an intensive educational weekend spent in Mánfa once a month, with block attendance classes,
– supplemented by online and distance learning classes for each subject on four evenings a week (Thursday-Sunday, 6-8 p.m.).

We recommend the training primarily to those who:
– prefer independent learning,
– are unable to attend our courses in Budapest but can spend one weekend a month in Mánfa (whether they live nearby or further away),
– work during the week but can free up four evenings (Thursday-Sunday, 6-8 p.m.) for online education,
– are happy to spend their face-to-face classes in a peaceful, natural environment,
– prefer to study in smaller groups (max. 33 people),
– are happy to use the library services of the University Library and Knowledge Center of the University of Pécs free of charge.

We are currently offering two specializations in our correspondence course, alternating annually:
Buddhist meditation (starting in the 2022/23 academic year) and religious philosophy (starting in the 2023/24 academic year).

The in-person classes for the correspondence course in Mánfa in the 2022/23 academic year:
– September 10-11, 2022
– October 8-9, 2022
– November 12-13, 2022
– December 10-11, 2022
– February 11-12, 2023
– March 11-12, 2023
– April 15-16, 2023

We look forward to receiving your application!
