Published: The Discourses of the Buddha – Majjhima Nikāya (Volumes I-III)

The complete collection of Buddha’s medium-length discourses, the source of the Dharma, is being published in Hungarian for the first time.
This work fills a gap, as there are several translations of Christianity’s holy book, the Bible, and the Koran, the holy book of Islam, has also been published, but only a fraction of Buddha’s teachings have been available in Hungarian in print, without a comprehensive summary volume. We wanted to fill this gap with this book, as Buddhism is also part of the universal tradition of humanity. This publication is the fruit of sixteen years of work.

This volume is a summary of Buddha’s essential teachings. The Collection of Middle-Length Discourses is the text of the oldest school, the Theravada, the “teaching of the elders,” and is in fact the source of Buddhist doctrine. It contains all the elements from which later traditions developed during the course of historical change, including Mahayana, Zen, and various strands of Tibetan Tantrayana. Although these traditions place different emphases, the essential foundation is the same everywhere and has not changed.

Knowledge of this basic text is therefore important for all thinking people, but practical implementation is also necessary in order to reveal its true meaning, otherwise the Buddha’s teachings may be accompanied by numerous misunderstandings and misinterpretations. Buddhist doctrine and practice are open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, religion, or beliefs. It is unique in its kind, reflecting thousands of years of knowledge—spiritual, psychological, and even beyond—about the structure, functioning, and phenomena of human consciousness. Buddha’s insights have been confirmed by numerous modern scientific studies and will certainly continue to provide food for thought for those seeking knowledge and liberation for a long time to come.
